Intern positions are aligned with priority category groups, allocating applicants to<br />

their highest possible preference until positions are filled. Allocations occur in 3<br />

rounds; round 1 commencing with Category 1.1. applicants, randomly selecting<br />

applicants to be allocated their first preferences. In round 2, all vacant positions are<br />

filled. Applicants may receive an offer for their second or subsequent preferences.<br />

Again, matches are random in accordance with category groups and based upon<br />

applicants’ highest possible preferences. Round 3 fills positions made vacant<br />

through declined offers from previous rounds.<br />

The Rural Intern Pathway was introduced to South Australia in 2018 as a strengthbased<br />

recruitment process to select applicants who are suitable for, and have a<br />

preference towards, working in a rural location. All applicants who meet the intern<br />

application eligibility criteria and preference a Country Health SA site as their first<br />

preference will be included in the selection process. Therefore, applications for this<br />

pathway are included in the standard SA internship application. More information<br />

is located on the SA Health Careers Website.<br />

APPLICATION DOCUMENTS<br />

Medical intern placement number (AHPRA number)<br />

Passport, citizenship certificate or Australian full birth certificate (if born after<br />

1986 must supply proof that at least one parent was either an Australian<br />

Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident at time of birth)<br />

A current resume/curriculum vitae<br />

Referees: for credentialing purposes, all applicants are required to provide<br />

contact details for three referees who have supervised you in a clinical<br />

capacity. An online referee form will be sent to your referees via email so please<br />

ensure the email address provided is correct.<br />

University transcript (an unofficial copy is acceptable from Australian Medical<br />

Council (AMC) accredited schools).<br />

Evidence confirming that you meet the English language requirements set<br />

out by AHPRA<br />

Local Health Network (LHN) Preferences: Nominate your preferences in order<br />

Immune Status<br />

If applicable:<br />

Name change evidence (e.g. marriage certificate, divorce certificate, change of<br />

name by deed poll etc.)<br />

A copy of your Visa – that includes your name, visa status and expiration date<br />

If you are from interstate or overseas you will need to provide a certificate<br />

confirming that you have completed the online electronic medical record<br />

(Sunrise EMR & PAS) training. Please refer to Sunrise EMR & PAS for further<br />

information and to register for the online training
