SA OVERVIEW
Take the opportunity to realise your potential as a doctor whilst enjoying the
offerings of South Australia: the home of wine, festivals, and Farmer’s Union Iced
Coffee (to get you through those lengthy shifts). Adelaide’s dynamic marriage of
cosmopolitan mecca and small city vibes is both vibrant and convivial, ensuring
an unparalleled experience in the “20 minute city”. Boasting the modern Royal
Adelaide Hospital and a healthcare system focussed on emerging healthcare
practices, it would be “heaps good” to spend your first year out of medical school
here in the Festival State. To ensure you secure that work-life balance (emphasis
on life), the Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills wine regions are less than 1.5 hours
drive from the city. Or you could spend your weekends exploring the Flinders
ranges and beautiful coastline - with a “pie floater” always within reach for your
indulgence.
For the 2024 clinical year, there are eight local networks to undertake an
internship year in South Australia, with 5 rural networks and 3 metropolitan
networks
Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network (BHFLHN)
Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN)
Eyre and Far North Local Health Network (FUNLHN)
Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network (FUNLHN)
Limestone Coast Local Health Network (LCLHN)
Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN)
River Mallee Coorong Local Health Network (RMCLHN)
Southern Adelaide Local Health Network
