BASIC INFORMATION<br />

The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) is a quaternary and tertiary<br />

referral teaching hospital located at the Metro North Hospital and Health Service<br />

(MNHHS) Herston site, close to the Brisbane CBD. RBWH is Queensland’s largest<br />

hospital with almost 1,000 beds and provides highly specialised care to more than<br />

half a million patients every year.<br />

RBWH’s extensive services are delivered by a team of 6,000 doctors, nurses, allied<br />

health, operational and administration staff. The hospital participates in worldleading<br />

research and education in pursuit of excellence in specialised care to<br />

deliver the best possible patient outcomes. Also located at the Herston site is The<br />

University ofQueensland, Queensland Institute of Medical Research and the<br />

Herston Imaging Research Facility.<br />

STARS<br />

<br />

The Surgical Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS) is a 182- bed specialist<br />

public health facility for Metro North Hospital and Health Service (MNHHS). STARS is<br />

also Queensland’s first purpose-built facility to open as a digital hospital It is a<br />

specialist rehabilitation and surgical service which focuses on providing<br />

individualised care and exceptional health outcomes now and into the future.
