<strong>Chapter</strong> 2<br />

<strong>THE</strong> <strong>PROJECT</strong> <strong>PROMOTERS</strong><br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>project</strong> <strong>has</strong> <strong>been</strong> conceived by a partnership between two giants in the<br />

construction and property development industries respectively. <strong>The</strong>y are on the one<br />

hand the Société O.P. Ramdenee that owns the land of 10 ha and on the other hand<br />

Mr. Terzino Criseo also known as Toni Criseo from Country Home Ltd who is the<br />

investor and who <strong>has</strong> more than 30 years of experience in the business of property<br />

development in the prestigious places in France such as the Cote D’Azur. Mr. Criseo<br />

is also an influential member of the reputed Lion’s club.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Société O.P Ramdenee who owns, manages and operates three companies<br />

namely; Trio Development Ltd, Trio Mix Ltd and Trio Meshco Ltd <strong>has</strong> an established<br />

reputation in the construction industry in Mauritius especially in roads and drains<br />

constructions. This group started its activities at Pointe aux Piments as early as 1972<br />

under the leadership of Mr. O. Ramdenee and at a time when no infrastructure was<br />

available around the site. At that time the main activity was stone crushing for<br />

producing aggregates. Since then the owner <strong>has</strong> strived gradually towards the<br />

upgrading of its processes and diversifying its business into the production of Readymix<br />

concrete, asphalt, block making, precast decorative blocks and welded mesh<br />

fabric. <strong>The</strong> business employs over 200 workers in office as well as on site.<br />

<strong>The</strong> other partner is Country Home Ltd, represented by Mr. Terzino Criseo, also<br />

known as Toni Criseo, who <strong>has</strong> an outstanding lifetime achievement in this type of<br />

<strong>project</strong>. Mr. Tony Criseo, who is of French nationality, <strong>has</strong> <strong>been</strong> involved in this type<br />

of activity since 1976. He is well-known in the region of the Cote D’Azur in France<br />

where he <strong>has</strong> executed hundreds of high standards real estate developments in that<br />

chic area. He <strong>has</strong> participated in many real estate forums in Europe such as at<br />

Cannes, London, Dusseldorf, Milan, Paris and Brussels among others. Mr T. Criseo<br />

<strong>has</strong> an indefectible liking to social <strong>project</strong>s and <strong>has</strong> <strong>been</strong> the Vice-President of the<br />

Lions Club of Mennecy-Val d’Essone. He is also active in the business environment<br />

promoting exchanges between France and China. Mr. T. Criseo <strong>has</strong> visited this<br />

island on numerous occasions and <strong>has</strong> a deep appreciation of the Mauritian<br />

environment. He did not miss the opportunity to embark on the present one. <strong>The</strong><br />

present partners have joined forces and set up a company for the purpose of that<br />

RES1 <strong>project</strong>, namely Société Immobiliere de Pointe aux Piments (SIPP) Ltd.<br />

This company <strong>has</strong> <strong>been</strong> duly registered and will inter alia, be responsible to<br />

conceptualize the <strong>project</strong>, hire the services of professionals for the design and<br />

supervision of the implementation, administer the <strong>project</strong>, set up bodies to market the<br />

product, set up a body to operate and manage the site after completion of the works.<br />
