Year 8 Play
8A did a performance of “Snow White and the
Seven Dwarves” for the Mirridong clients on
Tuesday. The performance featured excellent
singing from Chelsea, Brydie, Kristen and Kara.
Students acted great character parts,
performed dances to original music by Kodi,
and the tech crew, Khyden, Rory and Brayden
were kept busy with coordinating sound,
smoke, and props. Shannon provided fabulous
live music on keyboard and clarinet. All
students participated and worked really well
together as a team.
Hello everyone,
Principals Report
It is great to be back in Australia after two
very busy weeks abroad!
As I write this report, our year ten students,
Mr Chester, Mr Johnston and Ms Mitchell will
all be sitting in the Shanghai Airport waiting to
board their flight back to Australia.
After twenty one days away, I’m sure they will
be eager to return to see their families and
share many stories with us all.
I returned from China last Friday after a very
successful trip where I worked closely with
Angela and Oscar, two English speaking
Chinese teachers. My trip was all about
consolidating the relationship between our
school and the Changshu Foreign Language
Middle School, so we can take the next step in
intercontinental projects between our
students.
I was lucky enough to catch up with our year
ten students and their new class mates on
two of my days in Changshu. Our students had
learnt so much and they all had many stories
to share. It was great to see the positive
relationships they had all formed with their
host brothers or sisters in such a short time.
I look forward to catching up with them all
again next week to see how the second part
of their journey panned out.
If you haven’t already, you must take the time
to visit our school website as it has many
articles, stories, photos and reflections from
the students and teachers from this incredible
journey.
Year 12 Exam Update
I had the opportunity to speak to some of our
year 12 students at the supermarket and the
local senior basketball competition last night
and from all accounts our students were
quietly confident that they had done well.
Most were relieved to have come out of the
English exam feeling like they had achieved
good results, while others were relieved and
positive about possible results in their other
specific subjects.
Good luck to all those students who still have
exams to sit over the coming week!
End of the Term
As the term comes to a close at the end of
November, with our students starting the new
year in December. I would like to encourage
all parents and families to talk to their sons
and daughters about what they need to
complete to give themselves the best possible
result for this semester. Teachers are
constantly on the backs of the students to get
work in, but when the same message comes
from home, students often work harder and
get more work completed. This gives the
teachers a better indication of where your
child is actually at and with report writing just
around the corner, it’s a good time to finish
on a positive note.
Bye for now,
