Insights into Proposed

provided event attendees with up-to-date
information on the political events taking place
in Israel, offered unique insights into the reasons
behind the proposed changes, and explored the
motivations of those opposing the government’s
proposals.

Prof. Netta Barak-Corren
With headlines focusing on the Netanyahu
government’s planned changes to Israel’s
justice system, the lectures given by Netta
Barak-Corren, Director of the Hebrew University
of Jerusalem’s Center for the Study of
Multiculturalism and Diversity, provided timely
updates on this evolving story.
On March 20, Elaine and Dr. Beno Michel hosted
Ambassador Yossi Gal, HU’s Vice President
for Advancement & External Relations at
Frenchman’s Creek Beach and Country Club.
Supporters for over 50 years, the Michels invited
a group of friends to dine with Ambassador Gal
for discussion and dinner. From HU updates to
an engaging Q&A session, the conversation and
dinner was enjoyed by all.
On March 3, Prof. Barak-Corren spoke at North
Miami’s Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community
Center on, “Changes in the Israeli Judicial System
and the Separation of Powers in Israel,” and
again shared her insights with the congregation
of Boca Raton’s B’nai Torah after the March 4
morning service.
A legal scholar, Hebrew University Professor
of Law, and cognitive scientist, Prof. Barak-
Corren conducts research on the empirical and
behavioral analysis of constitutional and public
law, with a focus on the interaction between
