Go4Schools _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ As part of our commitment to sharing information about our students’ progress on a regular basis, we operate an on-line reporting system. The programme allows you to access a wide range of information relating to your child’s education including: • Student timetable • Attendance information • Behaviour records • Attainment data • Reports If you have a child currently in the school, you will already have a Go4Schools login. For those parents new to the system, you will receive an email in September with details of how to register. You can download the App for your smart phone from the App store. Although not all information is available via the App (eg. school reports). Details to get set up for the parents is on the website in ‘Essentials, Parents’ or here. Details to help students get set up is available in the student area of the school website or via the link here. Please avoid using your child’s log-in as we monitor usage by the child and adult. If you do not register your email address with King Edward VI School, you will not be able to log onto Go4Schools. Please inform us if you require a paper copy of progress reports. We hope you will find having regular access to up-to-date information about your child useful and informative. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries accessing or using Go4Schools. 10

Homework _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Homework plays a critical role in supporting the development and application of key skills and knowledge for our students, enabling them to more readily access the competitive workplaces in the future. Notably, homework tasks can strengthen student resilience, organisation, deadline working, creativity, and solution finding. We have a dedicated page on the School website for students and parents to access information and help. This can be accessed here: https://www.kinged.suffolk.sch.uk/essentials/parents/homework/ Teachers use a range of online systems to support meaningful homework tasks, all of which are set using Microsoft Teams. Prior to starting at King Edwards, we recommend that parents set up their own MS Teams account ready to link their child’s account in September. After your child has been enrolled onto our IT systems, parents can link their MS Teams account using the guide available here: Microsoft School Connection - King Edward VI School (kinged.suffolk.sch.uk). Parents play a critical role in ensuring that homework tasks are completed effectively. In routinely monitoring tasks that are set, and encouraging your child to ‘turn in’ homework assignments on MS Teams, this will enable teachers to accurately monitor completion of work. We recognise that the content of homework tasks becomes increasingly challenging as your child moves through secondary school; we do not expect parents to be experts on everything so please let us help. Ownership of tasks should be taken by your child. Students should be encouraged to: • Be organised, taking responsibility for completing work by deadlines, even if they were absent for the lesson when homework was set • Be proactive by starting homework tasks early to allow time to seek out their teacher with any problems prior to deadlines • Be resilient: some tasks will be difficult and this should be celebrated. Students should have a go at any and all tasks to the best of their ability • Work with their peers to collaborate where appropriate/permitted • Access teacher ‘catch up’ sessions. Teachers will provide opportunities for support with homework, typically at break or lunchtimes • Take responsibility and pride in their work. We have two further educational platforms available for students to access either in or outside school: Seneca and EdLounge. These platforms are free for students to use and will enhance the learning that they will be doing in lessons. Parents should encourage time on EdLounge or Seneca to support their child’s learning. https://www.king-ed.suffolk.sch.uk/essentials/students/it-help/ 11
