Muddy Sneakers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

MUDDY SNEAKERS envisions a world where every
child has the opportunity to form a connection to
nature and benefit from the wellness it provides. We
are committed to becoming a national model for
closing the science literacy gap, inviting diversity into
the outdoors, and instilling an understanding of one’s
role in the greater ecosystem. In doing so, we cultivate
healthier generations committed to the stewardship of
our natural resources.

Muddy Sneakers represents a
unique educational opportunity
for our children and the state of
North Carolina. Our programs
bring substantive outdoor STEM
education to children at a critical
developmental stage where
continued trends show
childhood being pulled inside.

elementary schools, Muddy
Sneakers is an embedded part
of the science curriculum and
serves as a highly anticipated
capstone for children
completing their elementary
years.
Together we can change the
expectation for how a child
learns science within the public
school system. What if it was
impossible to receive a K-12
public education without some
nature-based, experiential
components? Imagine the
impact on our beautiful state as
each student internalizes
lessons learned throughout the
program year after year.
