Please note that due to the withdrawal of the Retail Export Scheme by HMRC, we are unable to provide VAT refunds

PACKING, DELIVERY & SHIPPING 

Shipping can prove expensive so please ask us for a shipping quote before bidding. We aim to provide in-house packing 

where practical but high value and delicate items may well require a specialist. Overseas shipping is best provided by a

‘Museum Villa’: A mid 19th century furnished 

English dolls’ house, the fine facade with a heavily 

rusticated central door case flanked by glazed 

windows, with acid etched lower sections, the walls 

marked out to simulate ashlar, the interior with four 

rooms, on original mahogany stand, 136cm high.

A back-opening furnished English dolls’ house, 

late 19th century, modelled as a double-fronted 

cottage with a fenced front garden, and two bay 

windows, the interior and exterior with original 

finishes, 74cm high

An extraordinary English dolls’ house, 

mid 19th century, double-fronted with 

lawned front garden, the exterior painted 

with red brickwork, the ground floor with 

unusual central staircase, the handrail with 

exaggerated spiral terminals, the rooms to 

either side with tinplate fireplaces including 

one by Evans & Cartwright, the two upstairs 

rooms presented through unusual arched 

openings, one with an Evans & Cartwright 

fireplace, the walls with the remains of the 

original papers, 62cm high

‘Wingate House’: An English 

cupboard house, early 19th 

century, standing on bracket 

feet with three opening doors 

revealing six rooms, the exterior 

with its original painted finish 

including pale pink block work 

and six panelled front door with 

a painted portico in the Chinese 

style, the interior also with original 

finishes, including attractive paper 

borders, 100cm high. 

This house is believed to have 

belonged to the Wingate family, 

Colonel Wingate of the Chindits 

was a member of the family.

furnished dolls’ house, circa 

1880, modelled as a double-fronted 

suburban villa, with a central turret 

and two bay windows, the interior 

and exterior with original finishes,

comprising mainly early 20th 

century German pieces including 

some ‘Yellow Cherry’ items, with 

original curtains to the windows,

English cupboard house, mid 

19th century, the hinged doors 

opening to reveal six rooms, the 

facade with painted architectural 

details including a fine woodgrained

baluster and posts, the opening 

interior doors with brass handles, 

one room containing a tinplate 

fireplace by Evans & Cartwright of

A Moritz Gottschalk furnished dolls’ house, circa 1885, elaborately made as a grand double-fronted 

house, the central porch flanked by bay windows, French doors on the first floor flanked by pairs of arched 

windows, the detailing in cream against the red brick ground, the interior with original wall and floor papers 

with attractive paper borders, arranged as one large ground floor room and one large first floor room, 

together with two Evans & Cartwright tinplate fireplaces within wooden surrounds, the furnishings including 

large scale ‘Yellow Cherry’ pieces and a cast metal chair, 90cm high.

bathroom with fully operational bath 

fed from a water tank contained in 

the roof, 92cm high.

A Victorian furnished dolls’ 

house, circa 1890, of three floors, 

the brick facade with an attractive 

first floor balcony, the interior with 

two rooms on the ground and 

second floor, the first floor arranged 

as a fine drawing room with original 

red silk curtains, carpet and wall 

coverings, the contents comprising 

mainly contemporary German 

pieces, many of ‘Yellow Cherry’ 

type, 77cm high.

‘To The Golden Goose’: A rare German 

musical toy modelled as two storey 

half-timbered building, circa 1890, twin 

doors at the front opening to reveal two 

dolls set within a mirrored interior, when 

handle at the side is cranked, the dolls 

rotate and the music plays, a polyphon 

disc mounted at the back playing the tune 

‘The Soldiers of the Queen’, retailers label 

for Douglas & Co, London, 39cm high

‘Kits Coty House’: An important G. 

& J. Lines furnished dolls’ house, 

dated 1912, modelled as doublefronted 

villa with bay windows and a 

balcony above the wide front door, 

the mansarded roof with dormers, a 

widow’s walk and a clock tower, the 

four-roomed interior with staircase 

and interior doors, original finishes 

and fireplaces, the furnishings of later 

date, 110cm high. 

This house bears a brass plaque 

engraved ‘Kits Coty House, Harleston, 

1912’. It is illustrated by Jean Latham, 

Dolls’Houses, A Personal Choice, 

(1969), p.145 and discussed at p.134. 

It is from this house that all other 

houses of this type take their name. 

‘Kits Coty’ is in fact a megalithic burial 

ground on the North Downs in Kent.

dolls’ house, mid 19th century, set on its original 

stand with porcelain castors, with a double-fronted 

rough cast facade and handsome panelled front 

door, the interior with opening panelled doors

papers still in place, the kitchen with fitted dresser 

and brass grate, the furnishings of mixed date but 

including some contemporary pieces, carrying

A Moritz Gottschalk ‘blue roof’ 

furnished dolls’ house, c.1893-94, 

modelled as an elaborate two storey 

villa with two veranda’s and two 

balconies, windows to either side, the 

interior with four rooms, the contents 

of mainly German origin, inscribed in 

pencil to the underside ‘2146’, 63cm 

high. 

This model is illustrated in the 

Gottschalk catalogue reproduced by 

Mary-Anne Cieslik (2000), and is shown 

alongside a smaller but similar house of 

model no.2414

three floors surmounted by a grand 

triangular pediment, with a replacement 

facade made in the 20th century, 

the sides with glazed windows and 

original carrying handles, the interior

late 19th century, modelled as halftimbered 

house with red roof and 

dormer window, another window in 

the gable end, the lower two storeys 

comprising the cage, with metal bars, 

a small extension to one side hinged to 

allow access for feeding, 56cm high

‘Ednaville’: A fine fully furnished Victorian dolls’ house, circa 1880-1900, modelled as handsome 

double-fronted residence, with bay windows and steps up to a fine panelled front door, original finishes 

to the exterior and interior, the interior particularly finely detailed with panelled interior doors, a well-made 

staircase serving all three floors with original stair carpet, the rooms with unusual decorative details including 

‘plasterwork’ ceilings and panelling, one ground floor room with attractive overmantel mirror, the original 

furnishings including ‘Yellow Cherry’ pieces and numerous pictures, pieces of china and other contemporary 

miniatures, 165cm high. 

This was the first house acquired by Joy McQuade and remained her favourite throughout her collecting life, 

it is discussed by Jean Latham, Dolls’ Houses, A Personal Choice (1969), p.134 and is illustrated on pages 

72, 151, 155 and 185

A Moritz Gottschalk ‘Blue Roof’ furnished dolls’ 

house, circa 1880-85, single fronted with a bay 

window and portico entrance, the interior with 

original floor and wallpapers, the exterior also with 

original finishes, the contents including a cast iron 

fireplace and a Frozen Charlotte doll, 42cm high. 

This house is model no.2035 in the catalogue. A 

number of versions of this model are illustrated by 

Evelyn Ackerman, the Genius of Moritz Gottschalk 

(1980) pp.32-33

early 20th century, of half-timbered 

form, the hayloft above accessed by 

small door, a coach house to the left, 

30cm high. Handwritten note ‘Bryan 

McQuade played with this farm in this

attached a later date reading ‘The Valley 

Farm, J. Constable’

scrolled backs, the fireplace with a border of

1939 by Jürgen and Marianne Cieslik, 

page 336 states that Bébé articulé was 

the registered trade mark of F.E. Winkler 

for jointed dolls. It is believed that the 

head was originally made by Bähr and 

Pröschild in 1894 although the trade 

mark was not registered until 1899 when 

Winkler won the Paris Medaille d’Or. His 

dolls were obviously intended for French 

market. Figure 1955 on the same page
