FRACTALS

A fractal is a never-ending pattern.

Fractals are infinitely complex

patterns that are self-similar across

different scales. They are created

by repeating a simple process over

and over in an ongoing feedback

loop.

ISOMETRIC

TRANSFORMATIONS

An isometric transformation,

also known as an isometry,

refers to a type of movement

that maintains the original

shape of an object in either a

2D plane or 3D space. Some

examples of isometric

transformations include

reflection, rotation, and

translation.

EMBROIDERY

Embroidery pattern is

essentially a guide, to help

the embroiderer transfer a

drawing to fabric.

ETHNIC

These ethnic patterns is inspired by

the Kilim design. Kilims are flat

tapestry-woven carpets or rugs

produced from the Balkans to

Pakistan. Because it's a slit-woven

textile it's known for its very sharpetched

designs which emphasise

the geometric patterns. Tribal

women create Kilims with certain

motifs and colours to express

important themes in their lives. Kilim

patterns are known for their natural

colours and geometric patterns in

different sizes.

FREIZE

An infinite strip with a repeating

pattern is called a frieze pattern, or

sometimes a border pattern or an

infinite strip pattern. The term

"frieze" is from architecture, where a

frieze refers to a decorative carving

or pattern that runs horizontally just

below a roofline or ceiling.

ROSETTE

A rosette pattern is a design that

can have two types of

symmetry. The first type is cyclic

symmetry, where the design

rotates around a center point

but doesn't have any mirror lines.

The second type is called

dihedral symmetry, which means

that the design also rotates

around a center point but has

mirror lines that go through the

center point. This creates a

symmetrical pattern on both

sides of the center.

WALLPAPER

DESIGNS

The wallpaper design is a

pattern with translation

symmetry in two

directions; or a pattern

given at a repetitive way

to fill a plane

TESSELLATIONS

It is a pattern where the

designs perfectly fit

together, without gaps

between them

CARPET

DESIGNS

Carpet designs

presents the same

patterns and

symmetries as a

tessellation, as it

usually has no

overlapping patterns

and no gaps

shapes and lines adapting

a mixture of either

wallpaper patterns or

tessellation
