Outdoor dining areas are an important
source of revenue in the hospitality
business – providing the atmosphere
they offer guests is inviting. In addition to the
location and the interior, the decisive factor here is
whether the restaurant has attractive protection
against the sun and inclement weather. Pergola

additional roller blinds which can be lowered to
provide protection against wind or light rain. This
means the restaurant terrace can be used longer
during the day and also over the whole year.

The pergola awnings from markilux are also
flexible in terms of installation. You can either
anchor them to the ground or secure them with
ballast boxes. The boxes can be used as additional
seating but also as flower beds. “Another
advantage of our pergola systems is that in
comparison with parasols they save a lot of space
because the awnings are mounted against a wall
and supported by two front posts. As a result, the
free space under the awning cover can be utilised
to the full,” stresses Jan Kattenbeck.
The broad variety of models in terms of their
shape and colour means that the weather
protection system can be selected to match the
building or terrace, depending on its architecture.
The “colour on demand” service allows any colour
you desire to be chosen for the awning cover and
your own logo or the name of the location can
also be added. The company is receiving more and
more enquiries from all over Germany and abroad
for customised concepts to cover outdoor dining
areas with pergola awnings. Jan Kattenbeck
explains: “With ‘team: project’, we assist our
customers in taking the first measurements
through the various planning stages and clear visual
representations together with a specialist partner
on site until the desired system is fully operational.”
