Blinds & Shutters - Issue 2-2023

As I write this it seems as if the Government has reached an agreement with the EU regarding trading arrangements with Northern Ireland. This seems long overdue and let’s hope it doesn’t led to a two tier system within the UK and it gets through Parliament. Also energy prices are still high on the agenda and decisions are being made as we speak on whether there will still be any financial help from the Government. Industry does not seem to be talked about as much as consumers, but if the Government really want to control inflation, energy prices have to come down for prices not to continue rising. It’s a tough time for everyone in the UK, I hope it ‘s not going to get any harder for industry. John Hatcher, Editor

Providing potential
Well-thought-out
concepts can
provide ideal
solutions/additiona
l potential through
smart home
integration
Whether roller shutters, Venetian blinds
or textile screens, all solutions
contribute to the energy efficiency of
buildings and home comfort both in summer and
in winter. "Exterior sun shading products are
therefore so effective in summer because most of
the sun's rays are already reflected before the
window pane," said Tobias Löhner, Marketing
Manager at ROMA. Since there is also a gap
between the window and the sun shading system,
air can circulate in between and heat accumulation
is prevented. However, exterior sun shading
systems are also extremely impressive on cold
days. "Thanks to purposeful control of sun shading
systems, the low sun can be used during the day to
heat rooms with little heating energy. During the
night the sun shading system acts like an additional
barrier against cold outside," added Tobias Löhner.
Visitors to R+T 2024 will again have an
opportunity to see for themselves that the sun
shading systems from ROMA – e.g. roller shutters,
Venetian blinds or textile screens – satisfy the
highest possible requirements in regard to
functionality, aesthetics and durability.
Well-thought-out concepts
Warema Der SonnenLichtManager will present
its extensive portfolio as a full- service provider at
R+T 2024 in Stuttgart. The topic of energy
efficiency is firmly embedded in this portfolio.
"Modern sun shading systems now satisfy a large
number of requirements. They provide protection
against heat and prying eyes, make a contribution
to energy efficiency and increase the comfort and
safety of inhabitants through intelligent control
systems. During the planning phase – both as part
of modernisation or renovation and new
construction – important settings can already be
made, for example to make the best possible use
of daylight control or optimise building automation
by means of intelligent bus systems," said Marion
Fischer, Marketing Manager at Warema. If sun
shading solutions are integrated in existing buildings
as part of modernisation or renovation work, the
shaft systems from Warema ensure a high degree
of efficiency. In addition to shaft Venetian blinds and
shaft system roller shutters, Warema has now
extended its product solutions for subsequent
integration in shafts and panels to include a
window awning that can be used flexibly. Almost
completely prefabricated, high system security is
guaranteed and assembly proves to be easy and
economical thanks to the self-supporting, plug-in
design. Marion Fischer: "We are constantly working
to adapt our products to the increasingly more
diverse requirements and can already promise the
