PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & TRAINING: INTERNATIONAL TRADE Chamber courses focus on helping you trade overseas CUSTOMS COMPLIANCE AUDIT This course gives you a full audit and risk assessment of your current customs, VAT, logistics, documentary and procedure compliance, carried out by a professional international trade consultant who is qualified in Advance Customs Compliance and previously worked for HMRC. How will the audit work? The audit will take place on your premises and can include anyone you feel would be able to contribute or have a vested interest, such as a member from your import/export teams, finance and a director. Most audits involve at least one day on site. The audit will use processes adopted by HMRC and the outcome will be discussed with team members, who will have the opportunity to ask questions regarding the audit and other shipping issues. A summary of the audit will also be sent to you. The audit will focus on the following: • Checking customs import entries • Record keeping and audit trails • Completion of transport paperwork • Customs valuations and shipping • Checking preferential origin import/ export • Any clearance instructions required If you subscribe to the HMRC’s Management Support System data we will ask you to provide a copy and a sample of shipments will be randomly selected in advance of the audit for checking. If you do not subscribe to MSS, then you will need to provide a list of shipments for selection. We will take you through a detailed look at export documents taking a practical approach to why and when documents are needed. Includes background, uses and key requirements for different countries. We’ll help you understand how to produce the necessary documents for an international shipment, identify the documents required to expedite the shipment and any additional special requirements or documentation for particular markets/sectors. This course will cover the following: • The need for careful credit checking • The export quotation • A review of other payment methods – advantages and disadvantages and when they should be used • What is a Letter of Credit, and costs? • Administration and Procedure • Security and what can go wrong? • Tips to ensure you get it right. with clear and focused objectives.
