<strong>and</strong> high frequencies.<br />

4.2.4 Later developments<br />

The concept of transposed stimuli has been taken up in a wide range of hearing studies.<br />

Bernstein <strong>and</strong> Trahiotis [57,58] used transposed stimuli to measure the extent of<br />

laterality <strong>and</strong> the sensitivity to changes in interaural time differences, <strong>and</strong> compared<br />

their results with those obtained for st<strong>and</strong>ard low- <strong>and</strong> high-frequency stimuli. In<br />

line with the results found by van de Par <strong>and</strong> Kohlrausch [52], they observed great<br />

similarity in their measures between low-frequency <strong>and</strong> transposed stimuli. Oxenham<br />

et al. [59] used this type of stimuli in pitch perception experiments, in order to allow<br />

a separation of place <strong>and</strong> timing information, which is usually coupled when using<br />

sinusoidal signals.<br />
