Exhibition catalog: Discourse of War
This exhibition is about the impact of the war on the lives and creative paths of artists in Ukraine and worldwide. We want to show how artists’ attitude to art has changed during this year. How changed the vector of their creativity and attitude to the language of art in connection with these events. War has no nationality or religion. War has an impact on everyone individually and on all of humanity in general. Our goal is to show how artists from different parts of the world perceive war. This is an art discourse between artists and viewers.

Dark art allows us to “sightsee” the ideas that frighten us. Here, we can safely face our
fears. Exploring the dark side also develops our creative problem solving and coping
skills. This type of art awakens a part of the imagination many of us avoid.
I create nightmare-inspired art not only for these reasons, but also for mental health
awareness and healing. There is great comfort in knowing that we are not alone. Belonging
is a basic human need. To be accepted for who we are includes the creepy thoughts,
the sadness, depression, distress, or shame.
To ignore our own dark side is to reject a part of us. If we do not delve into these areas,
we invite them to fester in silence. The darkness can manifest as addictions, self-hatred,
anxiety, and a host of other issues.
