Exhibition catalog: Discourse of War
This exhibition is about the impact of the war on the lives and creative paths of artists in Ukraine and worldwide. We want to show how artists’ attitude to art has changed during this year. How changed the vector of their creativity and attitude to the language of art in connection with these events. War has no nationality or religion. War has an impact on everyone individually and on all of humanity in general. Our goal is to show how artists from different parts of the world perceive war. This is an art discourse between artists and viewers.

Art is my voice. I declare my values through art. For me, the most important thing is
that an artwork evokes emotions, has a concept, or idea behind it. That’s why I chose
to combine surrealism and symbolism. I bring up topics of life and death, physical and
spiritual worlds, self-expression, authenticity, and freedom. My characters represent
both human beings and spirits, for whom the universe is a place of origin. I paint mostly
women, because for me, female energy and a female body are very powerful and, unfortunately,
feminine power is not valued by society to the extent it should have been
valued. My characters don’t have hair or clothes, because it brings cultural and time line
aspects, but my characters are timeless and boundless. Nudity is a metaphor of being
seen, being free to express one’s unique nature, being naked physically and emotionally.
My characters seek freedom on all levels: freedom to change, to love, to give and receive,
freedom to express themselves in a variety of forms, external freedom and independence,
and internal freedom. My purpose is to show how much wisdom and love can be
discovered not only in joy, but also in pain.
