Choose from a variety of handmade
lace from the Netherlands
and unknown lace-makers in South
Africa. Melissa will take participants
through the process of preparing
a slab to make a platter and then
embedding your lace.
The highlight is always peeling away
the lace to reveal the delicate pattern
it created.
Melissa will then demonstrate how
to sand and prepare the bone-dry
platter for bisque and give two
demonstrations on glazing
the platter for high fire.
Join illustrator/cartoonist Gavin for
a fun cartooning workshop where
he promises to teach you how to
draw cartoons in one session.
Gavin is the co-creator of several
comic strips, including Treknet and
Mama Taxi, which are published in
newspapers across South Africa.
This workshop is perfect for
youngsters aged 10 – 15 years.
All you need is to love cartoons,
enjoy drawing and having fun.
Terry will once again offer this
popular workshop where you’ll
create your own bound journal,
from start to finish, using quality
water-colour paper for the pages.
Learn marbling techniques to make
bespoke end-pages and the basic
skills of bookbinding to create
a unique multiple signature
hardback book.
Each journal will be bound in
an ancient traditional Japanese style.
Numbers are limited to only five
participants.
