are asking “what if.”

Introverts’ and extroverts’ contrasting

problem-solving styles have been observed

in many different contexts. In

one experiment, psychologists gave

fifty people a difficult jigsaw puzzle to

solve, and found that the extroverts

were more likely than the introverts to

quit midway. In another, Professor

Richard Howard gave introverts and extroverts

a complicated series of printed

mazes, and found not only that the introverts

tended to solve more mazes

correctly, but also that they spent a

much greater percentage of their allotted

time inspecting the maze before
