signs hectic red<br />
Watching our car:<br />
a '77 dented Dart Swinger<br />
a mythological machine<br />
an American failure<br />
a sweaty back seat<br />
go nowhere<br />
but drive itself<br />
watching you<br />
driving me crazy<br />
slide the wheel<br />
under your fingers<br />
and beat up knuckles<br />
lusting for comfort<br />
left then right<br />
wishing you'd spit<br />
out the words<br />
"if I find a better place<br />
I won't be back"<br />
instead you say nothing<br />
