Their ankles and shins are sliced open from the stained
glass splinters that they climbed through. They play hide
and go seek until the man climbs off the cross and then they
run like never before through any stain glass window they
can find. They run straight howe to see their parents climb
in through their bedroo:th wiridows into bed, dead tired
from work.
Since the kids begah playing inside the church, Jesus
Christ hasn't said a fuc.kingthi:rig. He wakes up with the
noise ofchiidre� . laugn§g and washes the �ried blood off
his eyes withtheback ofhis fist. Asif he were thawing out
of hibernation he climbs doWll to the. carpet beneath him.
He stretche� his arms �d p@ls plaster from tfte back of his
fucking rotting hand. H:� stands there for a while fighting
off eternal sleep. He watches fue kids run by. He doesn't
yell at them or throw fucking i'?ckS at them, he doesn't
even console them, he just groans like a pathetic asshole
down the hollow hallway toward the drinking fountain. He
sobs, dragging his bleeding feet across the carpet. His
hysterical wails eventuaJly end when he reaches the
motorized drinking fountain. He fucking waits to catch his
breath before he takes a long drink that ends up soaking his
dried bloody beard that ha:s gro� thicker in death. The
fucking spirits all sit up to. 'Watch. They stare amazed at his
giant fucking forearms that havert't .moved a single brick in
thousands ()f y�ats. They 'Watch his dusty calves expand
like tanks as he treads back down the hall. By the time he
