The Artist Bala Nivetha was born and brought up <strong>in</strong> Tamil Nadu, India. Ever<br />
s<strong>in</strong>ce childhood, she has been <strong>in</strong>terested <strong>in</strong> arts and crafts, which made her<br />
choose fashion design as her major <strong>in</strong> college, and she later graduated with<br />
her master’s <strong>in</strong> fashion design. Bala knew she always wanted to<br />
do someth<strong>in</strong>g creative. But life got <strong>in</strong> the way when she took a break<br />
once she began busily support<strong>in</strong>g her husband’s bus<strong>in</strong>ess.<br />
“Tak<strong>in</strong>g art as a profession started dur<strong>in</strong>g my post-graduation<br />
days when I used to market and sell my handcrafted products, like<br />
personalized gifts and jewelry, via Facebook,” says Bala.<br />
The 2020 COVID-19 outbreak and the<br />
quarant<strong>in</strong>e period gave her the moment to<br />
reflect, which reignited her passion for<br />
her art career, and then the Instagram<br />
platform allowed her to do just that.<br />
After the COVID-19 pandemic, Bala<br />
became an art educator, teach<strong>in</strong>g her<br />
students art styles such as acrylic<br />
pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>gs, mandalas, and res<strong>in</strong>.<br />
Her current <strong>in</strong>terest <strong>in</strong> sculpture<br />
pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g techniques led her to<br />
<strong>in</strong>clude them <strong>in</strong> her sessions.<br />
“To teach art has been a newfound<br />
passion - for the past couple of years,<br />
and it feels even more joyful to<br />
transform the magic I know to others<br />
as well. To see someone, enjoy the same th<strong>in</strong>g<br />
that I do is a bless<strong>in</strong>g. Interact<strong>in</strong>g with new<br />
people and exchang<strong>in</strong>g ideas and perspectives on art<br />
is someth<strong>in</strong>g beautiful,” says Bala.<br />
