Residents in the area described their experiences on the road as terrible and lamented the damage caused by the road on their vehicles. Some commercial drivers decried that the situation had seriously affected their income, and noted that daily trips along the route had drastically reduced. The contract for the rehabilitation of the road which was awarded in May 2017 and was supposed to be completed within 18months. However, the rehabilitation of the road was taking longer than necessary, which resulted in the termination of the contract by Governor Seyi Makinde. BRIEF TECHNICAL DETAILS OF THE DUALIZATION OF (7.25km) IDI-APE - BASORUN - AKOBO - ODOGBO BARRACKS JUNCTION PROJECT IDI APE – BASORUN – AKOBO – ODOGBO BARRACK JUNCTION ROAD is a 7.25 km comprising of a yover over-pass across Lagos - Ibadan – Oyo Expressway linking the city with less city. It was originally awarded to ENL on 19th May 2017 but stalled at 35.76% progress till it was terminated for non performance by May 2020. For expediency, the project was split into 2 work-scopes, and re-awarded separately. THE ROAD The contract for the dualization of Basorun –Akobo – Odogbo Barracks Junction was awarded on 12 November, 2020. The road is within Ibadan metropolis, precisely within Lagelu Local Government Area. It serves as a link to many major roads such as Ibadan – Lagos Expressway, Agodi/Bus top – Idi Ape – Iwo Road Interchange, Iwo Road, Olorunda Community and 2nd mechanized division of Nigerian Army, Odogbo barrack, Ibadan.
