Chiuri’s Cruise 2023 collection for Dior.
The collection is a tribute to Andalusian art and culture,
paying homage to the expressiveness and elegance of
gestures.
Legendary dancer Carmen Amaya, well-known by her
stage name La Capitana, is Maria’s muse for the new
collection. Carmen was the first flamenco dancer to
perform in men’s attire, and she was known for her
revolutionary movements, embodying the concept of
multifarious femininity.

Notable designs include the distinctive Manila shawl
paired with Andalusian horsemen’s breeches and short
jackets with brandebourg closures. Mantillas with fine
embroidery are complemented with pinstripe suits and
boleros with trim. Red, yellow, ochre and black taffeta
is fashioned into extravagant skirts, while lace appears
in various forms. Dior’s signature Bar jacket gets a
luxurious update in black velvet embellished with gold
threads.
