CAIRO, EGYPT
The Grand Egyptian Museum, which was designed by
Heneghan Peng, is home to a wide variety of gilded
artefacts including the 5,400 priceless objects that were
discovered in Tutankhamun’s tomb in the Valley of the
Kings. But there is more to Cairo than just its ancient
past. A collection of art venues that can be used for
a variety of purposes can be found at the Townhouse
Gallery. The same is true for Room Art Space, a do-ityourself
performance venue that is tucked away in the
basement of a building in the Garden City that gives
the impression of being very official. And, as you walk
through the city’s streets, you’re bound to come across
Mohammed Mahmoud’s politically motivated street art.
