Her father was oneof the first computer programmers ofthe time. His brother Paul Greimanstudied to become a meteorologist.April Greiman began studyinggraphic design during her universitydays at the Kansas City Art Instituteduring 1966 and 1970. In a classicApril Greinman
travel of the time, she decided toexplore the world and went to Europewhere he entered to study at theBasel School of Design, Switzerlanduntil 1971.There she was a studentof Armin Hofmann and WolfgangWeingart where she was influencedby the International Style and theintroduction to the style later knownas New Wave.In 1976 she moved to Los Angeles,the cradle of graphic design of thetime where visions were more daring.Her vital and passionate charactermatched perfectly with the stylein Los Angeles, where DeborahSussman was already beginning toshow her colorful works to the world.In a time when computers werebeginning to show all the potentialto process images and vectors,Greiman embraced technologywithout fear thanks to his father’steachings in this field.Although most designers rejected thefact that computers would endangerthe International Typographic Style,Greiman opted to embrace technologyto create new breakthroughcompositions for the time.(15)April GreimanDoes it make sense?In 1986 her work Does it makesense? for Design Quarterlymagazine #133 was a turning point inher career.She presented her digital work andchallenged the existing notions of
