Working towards a world
without textile waste
At Wolkat, mainly Dutch, discarded textiles are turned into
new, usable raw materials. Wolkat is the only textile processor
in the world with a fully circular process. Collected textiles are
pre-sorted in the Netherlands. In Morocco, textiles are further
sorted, washed, cut and ultimately spun into yarns from which
strikingly beautiful fabrics are woven. This recycled textile is
then used to make promotional products.
Wolkat consciously chooses to process in Morocco. There is
a lot of knowledge in this country and Tangier is well known
as both a textile and port city. This means that the required
infrastructure is in place. Many people work in this industry. Their
income allows them to provide for their families and actively
participate in the economy.
