A word from the Principal...
Dear families,
And just like that, it’s half term and halfway through the school year. This year is flying by and it’s
only going to seem to accelerate as we race towards the summer term where the extra-curricular
events come thicker and faster than ever!
This week our Y5 children have been living it up in ‘The Big Smoke’ as they headed to London for
their residential. As always, this trip was action-packed with trip to the museums, Houses of Parliament,
London Eye, Wicked at the theatre and much more. The children were wonderfully behaved,
representing the school brilliantly and earning many compliments from members of the public. I’d
like to extend my thanks to all of the staff involved in the planning and delivery of this trip, it is
much appreciated.
Finally, some question ideas to get the past the stock-response of ‘nothing’ from many childre when
asked about their school day:
• Tell me about the best part of your day.
• What was the hardest thing you had to do today?
• Did any of your classmates do anything funny?
• Tell me about what you read in class.
• Who did you play with today?
• What can you teach me that you learnt today?
Research shows that asking children about their learning and showing interest in their day has a
significant impact on how well they conduct themselves and achieve at school.
Have a great half term.
Kind regards,
Mr Adam Anderson
Principal
