Broad and Balanced...
Y6
Year 6 have been studying Hinduism and focused on aspects of their beliefs,
such as: karma, dharma, moksha and their understanding that their souls experience
a cycle of life, death and reincarnation as another being. We had lots
of fun creating our very own board game, “Snakes and ladders - Hindu version”,
which required the players to go through the 100-square grid, allowing
for their dharma to be fulfilled, which ultimately allowed them to achieve moksha
once the number 100 was surpassed. There were some fantastic designs
and ideas for aspects of Hinduism that could replace the traditional snakes and
ladders.
In English, we have begun to write our eerie stories by creating a powerful,
descriptive introduction. We have attempted to use figurative language such
as pathetic fallacy and personification, as well as powerful vocabulary to really
entice a reader into the story.
In maths, we are finishing off our unit relating to decimals and fractions. The
class have been doing an amazing job with this difficult concept.
Super work year 6!
