It marked thefirst time Georgia trailed Tech since2016. Jack Podlesny slid in a fieldgoal to make it 7-3. Then in thesecond quarter, Bennett foundRosemy-Jacksaint for a leapingtouchdown grab, and Georgia led10-7. That would be the halftimescore. Costly penalties and missedopportunities kept the Jackets inthe game.Following another Podlesny fieldgoal after a call didn’t go Georgia’sway, the Bulldogs took advantageof a Tech blunder on a punt.Bowers made a terrific catch and itwas 20-7. Then Tech fumbled andPodlesny struck again. Georgiadelivered the big play of the gamewhen Bennett hit McIntosh for an83-yard strike early in the fourthquarter, pulling the Dogs out ofthe shadow of their own goal. Onthe next play, McIntosh scoredfrom two yards out. Milton scoredon a 44-yard run on the Dogs nextpossession and the game wasGeorgia’s.Brent Key took over as interimcoach and led the Jackets to a4-4 record after a 1-3 start underGeoff Collins, who never coacheda game in Athens. Key said afteraccepting the job a few days laterthat Tech would work 365 daysa year to dominate Georgia. TheBulldogs have won 18 of the last21 meetings against the in-statefoe.
