INTRODUCTION<br />

The objective of this document is to instruct and guide Glaukos ® personnel, consultants, and contractors as to the common standards of writing and<br />

style for communications about Glaukos, as well as the branding guidelines and marketing materials available for all programs and products. The benefit<br />

of compliance with these brand guidelines is the assurance of consistent corporate and product branding.<br />

THIS STYLE GUIDE IS PRESENTED IN THREE SECTIONS:<br />

• The corporate section covers the communication style for Glaukos, the style guide overview for all branches, the Glaukos logo guidelines,<br />

the branded corporate materials, and the style guidelines for all corporate programs<br />

• The service families section breaks down the logo guidelines for all products within their branch of products, as well as all branded and unbranded<br />

programs within those branches<br />

• The additional section offers general rules about the use of copyright, phrases, grammar, punctuation, and citations<br />

The concept of standardizing our graphic identity and voice is necessary to effectively communicate with target audiences and unify as a company<br />

internally. We have numerous audiences: doctors, patients, hospital administration, media, investors, and board of directors, to name a few. Each target<br />

audience has the ability to help us grow and prosper. Therefore, clear communication is vital. It is important that we consistently develop and utilize the<br />

value of the Glaukos name and logos. It is critical that, as the industry becomes more aware of our presence, they perceive Glaukos as a company that is<br />

committed to quality through our consistent and professional appearance. Careful use of graphic standards is crucial to building and protecting our<br />

powerful name and logo.<br />

of the G in the logo must be kept around the entire logo and tagline. The logo with tagline should be used on all advertising and external materials<br />

where space allows. Glaukos logo with tagline must include the registered trademark symbol (®). It can be used in color, black, or reversed. The Glaukos<br />

These elements are approved to create Glaukos corporate promotional materials and should only be used on large corporate marketing placements<br />

such as brochures, website, limited social media graphics, and video content. This logo should not be recreated with gray text and used on white as this<br />

is the only approved design. This version of the Glaukos logo should NOT be replicated on brand-specific materials or in day-to-day pieces. It should not<br />

be circulated to a wide group outside of the marketing team.<br />

The rings may be used as a focal element either with or without the text qualifiers on each ring. They should either be seen in full or can hang off the side<br />

of a page. The rings should never hang off so far that we are not able to view all rings adequately. The images and colors in these rings should never be<br />

altered, though they may be used in different levels of transparency.<br />

Your prescribed medication will be shipped to our office from an SPP. Specialty Pharmacies specialize in dispensing drugs<br />

that are not typically stocked in traditional retail pharmacies.<br />

Your doctor’s office will be contacting your insurance company to verify insurance information and obtain appropriate<br />

prior authorization.<br />

What you need to know when using a Specialty Pharmacy<br />

The Specialty Pharmacy will contact you to:<br />

• Confirm your medication order<br />

• Verify your insurance information<br />

• Collect your co-payment (may require credit card information)<br />

• Schedule a date to have your medication shipped directly to the doctor’s office<br />

As a general writing guide, Glaukos ® Corporation will use the AMA Manual of Style: A Guide for Authors and Editors, 10th Edition. This book is available<br />

from numerous sources. There is a copy on-hand at the corporate headquarters; it resides in the marketing department. The AMA Manual of Style is a<br />

comprehensive reference for drafting research papers in the fields of medicine and science. Not only does the 10th edition cover general guidance on<br />

preparing articles for publication (eg, style, terminology, measurement, and quantification), but it thoroughly covers ethical and legal issues, authorship,<br />

conflicts of interest, scientific misconduct, and intellectual property.<br />

Proper use of common terminology will assist in maintaining consistency and clarity throughout all Glaukos materials.<br />

• Schlemm’s canal is named after Dr Schlemm; therefore, "Schlemm’s" is always capitalized and "canal" is not<br />

• The surgical procedure to implant the iStent ® device is called trabecular micro-bypass surgery<br />

• The term "data" is plural (eg, “Data are provided...” rather than “Data is provided...”)<br />

• <strong>Brand</strong> names of drugs are written with the first letter capitalized and are followed by a ® or symbol for their first use, as may be applicable. It is<br />

Citing references ensures proper documentation, acknowledgement to authors, and direction to readers. It is imperative that all references are correctly<br />
