How much should I
charge for my services?
By Jason Barker
We see this question asked all the
time… “How much should I charge for
my services?”
Let me tell you the three wrong way
to determine your prices:
✔ Charge about the same as your
competitors.
✔ Charge what you think the
customer will pay.
✔ Charge what you think is “fair”.
Let’s start with the realization that
your business accounting is only made
up of numbers, that’s it, period. Any
business is simply numbers going in and
numbers going out. The numbers (money)
coming in must always be more than
the numbers (money) going out. It really
is as simple as that. Don’t overthink this.
So, to determine your prices you
just need to add up all your overhead
and expenses and profit, easy! Yes…
it is really easy because numbers do
not care about what your competitors
are charging, or whether the customer
thinks you’re charging too much, or
what you think is “fair”. Numbers don’t
think, they just are.
