We dare you to pronounce the Limburg word for ‘tea towel’: Sjottelslet. MINI Small but grand! Since the reopening of VDL Nedcar in the Limburg town of Sittard in 2014 the factory has proudly produced four different MINI models for BMW Group. Sjottelslet Known in general Dutch as a tea towel, the Limburg version is not only a tongue twister to pronounce but could also be mistaken for a rather impolite swearword. Vlaai Sounds a little of putting, but vlaai is the sweetest treat the Limburg province is famous for. A typically baked ( fruit) pie comes in many varieties and is so precious it is currently on the list for an EU protected status for regional products. Theme Park Toverland If you listen very closely when you are at Peelbergen Equestrian Centre you can heard the people on the roller coaster rides scream. Toverland is one of the youngest theme parks in the Netherlands but already has a magical reputation. Pinkpop If you like a good festival then you will have heard of this one: Pinkpop. This annual - three day - pop festival was founded in the Limburg village of Landgraaf in 1969. One of the most memorable headliners - Bruce Springsteen - is even rumored to have considered changing his ‘Born in the U.S.A.’ to Born in Landgraaf :) Asperges Whilst the Irish claim to have gold pots at the end of rainbows, the Limburg people actually grow it.
