VICTOR LUMINATTI
SPORTHORSES
Sporthorses all the way from Brazil to Limburg
Victor Luminatti always knew his show jumping career would take him to Europe. But that his first own stable would be
in the rural Limburg countryside, he definitely did not foresee. “This stable is everything I ever dreamed of, although I
still find it a challenge to pronounce the name of the village it is located in. Egchel”, Victor says with a smile.
“I think I was about five years old when I first sat on a horse. It
feels like a lifetime ago”, Victor, who is just 30 years old, looks
back. “In Brazil the equestrian sport, especially back then, was
not nearly as developed as in Europe. So, when I was ten years
old, my sister and I finally - after months of nagging our dad
- got him to enrol us in lessons at the local riding school. But
we skipped the whole pony phase. We were taught on horses,
there simply weren’t any ponies. At 14 I rode my first national
competition and as a 21-year-old I jumped the south american
championship in Argentina at 1.45m level with the Young
Riders.“
Local guidance
“I stayed at Thiago’s stables for quite some time, until he
moved to another facility in 2020. I really enjoyed staying
there, training together and such, but I did always want to start
a stable of my own. I moved to Travers Horse Facility, next to
Peelbergen, and stayed there until this place was finished. I
visited several locations to build a stable, but they all needed
big renovations or just did not feel right. Then I got talking to
Massimo Antoniolli and see where that got me”, Victor explains
with joy. Italian rider and businessman Antoniolli and his Dutch
After his successfull debut representing Brazil in international
shows, Victor was very motivated to continue his showjumping
career but his parents insisted he needed to finish his Business
Management studies at the University of Rio de Janeiro first.
“In 2015 I graduated and could focuss on my showjumping
career. Back then I was training and winning a couple of grand
prix so I felt comfortable enough to go to the Wellington
Equestrian Festival in 2016. After that I wanted to move to
Europe to improve my riding and experience the showjumping
circuit there. I trained with Christian Ahlmann for 6 months but
after some back luck - health wise with my horses - I went back
to Brazil.” After Victor’s horses were fit again, they were on the
plane back and landed with fellow countryman Thiago Ribas
da Costa in Limburg.
