Help support a
generation of
children into a
better life

We need to do
more than save
children’s lives
Save the Children, with support
from kind New Zealanders like
children survive conflict, disaster,
poverty and emergencies.
But survival isn’t enough
when children stay trapped in
suffering, unable to realise their
potential. All around the world,
children face huge barriers to
having good childhoods and the
safe, healthy and fulfilling lives
they deserve.
That’s why we must do
more to give children
positive futures – where
they can finish their
education, exercise their
rights, and rise above
disadvantage for good.
young lives. But you’ll also make sure they can overcome the challenges
they face after the emergency crews go home.
After war or disaster, you’ll help children recover. You’ll safeguard
their rights through emergencies and create opportunities for their
families to escape poverty.
Through the most difficult circumstances, you’ll be there to help children
have a good childhood and reach a secure, productive adulthood.
Your care today
will transform
children’s futures –
and our world
As a LIFETIMES Supporter, you
difference for children. You’ll
the barriers standing in the
way of the lives they deserve.
out of generational poverty,
above war and conflict, and
WILL YOU SAVE
THEIR LIVES
AND THEIR
FUTURES?

When conflict hits,
it’s children who
suffer most.
All Save the Children
supporters help children
survive in conflict zones and
refugee camps. But tents,
food and hygiene kits are
just the start.
As a LIFETIMES Supporter,
you can help build schools and
fund teachers and counsellors.
You’ll keep children learning
through crisis and help
them recover from trauma,
so they don’t lose their
chance of a better life.

When the shelling started near their home, 11-year-old
Mohammed * and his family had to flee. They moved to
another city in Yemen, where the over-crowded schools
didn’t have space to take Mohammed on as a student.
Thankfully, his mother heard about Save the Children’s
education classes and enrolled her son. Mohammed
impressed his teachers with his dedication and fast
progress. When he could eventually enrol in a local
school, he became one of the best students in his class.
Mohammed’s parents never had the chance to go to school or learn to read or write.
They are very proud of their son, and grateful he is getting the chance to build a good
future for himself.
In conflicts around the world, it’s not just children’s lives under threat. They’re also
missing out on school – and the chance to escape the disadvantage they were born into.
As a LIFETIMES Supporter, you can help children like Mohammed survive
conflict and have a hopeful, educated future.
Without school,
children lose their
chance of a better life.
Our generous supporters
help bring schooling to
children in the most difficult
circumstances. But those
children often need extra
support to complete their
education through poverty,
conflict and crisis.
As a LIFETIMES Supporter you
can train remedial teachers
and make sure teenagers are
supported to keep learning.
You’ll be there to make sure
children get to high school and
stay on track for their dreams.

Samia * lives in a poor and dangerous part of
Bangladesh, where children have few opportunities.
When she was 15, she was forced to leave school
and marry her cousin. But Samia never lost her
desire to finish her education.
After a year, she divorced her husband and returned
home. Samia is now studying again at a Save the
Children school and getting catch-up lessons to help
reach her dream of becoming a doctor.
As a LIFETIMES Supporter, you’ll help
make sure children like Samia can keep
learning, even through the challenges of
the COVID-19 pandemic.
You’ll help them start and finish their
schooling, so they can create the fulfilling
futures they deserve.
Poverty traps
children
in suffering.
Our supporters often equip
families with simple farming
practices, so they can earn
enough to feed their children
and send them to school.
As a LIFETIMES Supporter,
you can provide families with
climate-smart and womenfriendly
farming technologies
to transform their children’s
wellbeing. Or you could help
young people start their own
micro-enterprises and lift
their families out of poverty.

Nhem * wanted to send his son Tem * to school, but
couldn’t afford it. He barely made enough as a farmer
to feed his family from week to week.
When Nhem heard Save the Children was training local
farmers in climate-resilient farming methods, he doubted
it could help his family.
But after one year in the programme, Nhem’s cucumber
farm now makes eight times what it did.
He’s also growing and selling other high value crops.
Now Nhem can provide his son with food, clothes and medicine –
essentials he needs to live. What’s more, he can send Tem to school
and give him the opportunity to realise his potential in life.
As a LIFETIMES Supporter, you can help children like Tem
survive poverty and set them up for healthy, productive futures.
Child hunger is
a growing global
emergency.
With drought, conflict and
the COVID-19 crisis,
millions of children are
again at risk of starvation.
Kind Kiwis like you already
help us screen children for
malnutrition and provide
them with lifesaving
food and medicine. As a
LIFETIMES Supporter, you
can help fund mobile health
teams and develop national
nutrition plans to tackle
this emergency.

At 20 months old, Salma * was so malnourished she was
struggling to breathe. Her mother rushed her to a local
malnutrition clinic supported by Save the Children.
There, Salma was put on a feeding tube and given lifesaving
medication. In just two days, she’d improved and was
breathing normally. In a week, she could sit up by herself to
eat PlumpyNut nutrition paste.
Today, Salma is a happy, healthy two-year-old. Her grateful
mother often shares her story with the other women in her
village, so they can get their children to our help in time.
Save the Children is training more health workers to screen and treat children –
before malnutrition becomes chronic – and hurts their lifelong development.
As a LIFETIMES Supporter, you’ll support long-term, large-scale
efforts to save children like Salma from malnutrition and hunger.
You’ll save their lives today and give them the best chance to thrive
into the future.
