mother-in-law,
worshipper
inside Lagos
church

A
38-year-old man, Jimoh Jogbo,
stormed an undisclosed church in
the Lekki area of Lagos and allegedly
attacked his mother-in-law, resulting in
her death.
Another worshipper, Jamiu Sakiru, 40,
who attempted to raise the alarm, also
had his life snuffed out by the suspect.
Preliminary investigation by the Police
revealed that the suspect had carnal
knowledge of his wife's 14-year-old
younger sister.
His mother-in-law was said to have
refused to bow to entreaties by the suspect,
insisting that the case would be reported
to the Police for justice to prevail.
The attack on her was said to be an
apparent bid to stop her from carrying
out her threat.
The suspect's wife, Modupe Bolaji,
reported the matter to Policemen at
Akodo division.
She said her husband left their
apartment on Olodana street, Orofun
Town, Ibeju Lekki and stormed the
church at about 1 am, while they were
preparing for a prayer section.
She gave the identity of her mother as
Fatimo Muskilu,49.
She said: "He hit her with a hard
object. He also attacked Jamiu, who saw
him and attempted to shout. Jamiu died
on the spot."
The Lagos State Police Public
Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin,
who confirmed the incident, said it
occurred on November 14, 2022.
According to him: "The 49-year-old
woman was rushed to Akodo General
Hospital where she was confirmed dead.
Policemen visited the scene of the
incident from the Akodo division. There
were marks of violence on the corpses
which were deposited at the Epe General
Hospital.

KANO—NO fewer than nine
passengers reportedly lost their
lives when a vehicle conveying them
plunged into Fada Dam along Kano -
Katsina road in Gwarzo local
government area of Kano State,
Saturday night.
It was gathered that three other
passengers in the vehicle were rescued.
Confirming the incident, yesterday,
the spokesperson, Kano State Fire
Service, Saminu Yusif, said the accident
involved a Golf wagon car with 12
passengers coming from Kano and
heading to Katsina.
Abdullahi said: "On Saturday,
November 19, 2022, the state fire service
received an emergency call through Ali
Mai Faci, at about 18:45 hrs and he
reported an incident at Fada dam
Gwarzo LGA Dayi road.
"When our men from Gwarzo fire station
reached the area at about 19:10 hrs, they
found that a Golf Wagon with an unknown
registration number, coming from Kano
heading to Katsina, fell inside Fada dam.
"Twelve people of Katsina State were
rescued, all with unknown names.
"Victims involved are 2 girls of about 6
months, 4 women of about 30, 28, 27 and 25
years old, as well as 6 men of about 48, 45, 42,
40, 35 and 28 years old.
"With the good efforts of our men and local
fishermen, we successfully rescued three
persons alive, while nine people were
unconscious. We conveyed all victims to
Gwarzo General hospital for medical attention
and doctors confirmed the 9 people dead," he
said.
The spokesperson, however, maintained
that the incident happened as a result of a tire
burst leading to the loss of control of the
vehicle.

NAF destroys terrorist kingpin, Mallam

ABUJA—SEVEN notorious
terrorists, under the leadership of
members of Mallam Ila, have been
neutralised by the Nigerian Air Force,
NAF, aircraft under 'Operation Hadarin
Daji'.
The strikes, which were carried out in
sustenance of efforts aimed at ridding
the North West of Nigeria of terrorist
activities, took place, weekend, at the
terrorist enclave, located about 9km East
of Manawa Village, in Shinkafi Local
Government Area of Zamfara State.
After the air strike on the location,
multiple explosions were observed with
huge fireballs, indicative of other highly
inflammable materials hidden in the
location.

Police rescue 5 kidnapped victims in Kebbi

kidnapped victims were
rescued by police operatives in two
separate incidents in Kebbi State.
Two women and a man abducted
along Bena-Mairairai road were
rescued by mobile policemen
deployed to the scene.
The Commissioner of Police in the
state, Ahmed Magaji-Kontagora,
who confirmed the rescue of the five
persons, yesterday, in Birnin Kebbi,
said that the three victims, Jamila
Ahamad, Shamsiya Ahamad and
Tasi’u Haruna, were from Mairairai
village of Danko/Wasagu Local
Government Area.
“We received an information that
a gang of bandits has barricaded
Bena-Mairairai road and on receipt
of the information, mobile
policemen were immediately
mobilised to the scene.
"They engaged the bandits in gun
battle, forcing the criminals to
abandon their victims, who were
rescued unhurt and have been
reunited with their family.
“Consequently, one Toyota

Lady stabs lover
to death during
quarrel in Lagos

THE Police in Lagos have
arrested a lady for allegedly
stabbing her 21-year-old lover, Sadiq
Dahiru, to death, in the Lekki area of
Lagos.
The incident occurred in the early
hours of yesterday, at the deceased
apartment on Oba Amusa Street,
Agungi, Lekki.
Vanguard gathered that the lovers
were embroiled in a quarrel that
degenerated into a fight, in the process
of which the suspect, Esther Paul, made
for the kitchen knife and allegedly
stabbed Dahiru.
Stepfather of the deceased, Mr
Kazem Obafunso, alerted policemen
at Ilasan Division, whose officers
rushed Dahiru, who was bleeding
profusely, to Evercare Hospital Lekki,
where he was confirmed dead by the
doctor on duty.
The suspect was subsequently
arrested.
The spokesman for the Lagos State
Police Command, SP Benjamin
Hudenyin, informed that the body had
been deposited at the IDH mortuary,
adding that an autopsy would be
carried out as part of an ongoing
investigation into the matter.
He added that the case would be
transferred to the State Criminal
Investigation and Intelligence
Department, SCIID Panti, Yaba for
further investigation.

4 arrested over
killing of Sapele
businessman,
friend

SAPELE—DELTA State Police
Command has arrested four
persons over the alleged killing of a
Sapele-based businessman, Dominic
Uguru (30), and his friend, one Jagbo,
days after their dead bodies were found
in the entrepreneur's bathroom.
The incident, which occurred on the
night of Wednesday, November 16, 2022,
along NDDC road in Sapele, has plunged
the neighbourhood into profound sadness.
According to information gathered by
Vanguard, Dominic Uguru, an electronics
dealer, was at home with Jagbo when the
four suspects, Bright Osifo (23), Goodness
Obade (30), Obunwa Kasim (25) and
Ogadinma Francis (27), allegedly broke into
his house at about 11pm and demanded
the sum of N1 million from him.
A source, who claimed to be Dominic's
friend, said his late friend had just returned
the previous day from Lagos, where he
had gone to stock his shop when the
assailants struck.
He lamented that probably if Dominic
had not gone to stock his shop, he would
have given the assailants the one million
naira and probably saved his life and that of
his friend.
He further said: “Dominic and Ogadinma
are from the same Community in Ebonyi
State and it was Ogadinma, who invited
the others to town to attack Dominic and
his friend that night, and when he could
only transfer thirty-six thousand naira rather
than the one million naira they demanded
from him, they killed him and his friend and
drag their bodies to the bathroom.“
