A week after the much-talkedabout GTCO Fashion Weekend took place, many attendees are still basking in the euphoria that this annual event brings. Beyond the opportunity for Nigerians to get entertained by a lineup of some incredibly talented, indigenous designers and their stunning creative collections, it also created a commercial hub where buyers and creators in the fashion value chain converged. Passionate about driving Africa’s progress, Guaranty Trust Bank has in the last five years, been at the forefront of promoting enterprise with the annual hosting of the GTCO Fashion Weekend which costs millions of Naira to put together. Leading the charge on this enterprising, journey were designers like Taibo Bacar, Ituen Basi and Rich Mnisi whose shows were most anticipated. Besides the millions grossed at this show by the volume of trading activities, and the knowledge gained in the various masterclasses, the runway also revealed a glimpse of what fashion would look like in 2023. How To Be RED CARPET FASHION READY By - Josephine Agbonkhese The last quarter of the year is remarkable for being a season of awards, shows, festivals and other special events. One thing is however common to all of these events and that’s the red carpet— which is usually the most important part to guests as it culminates in one pictureperfect moment which sums up their weeks-long effort ahead of that event. Usually loaded with a ton of photographers and media representatives, the red carpet is a place where you must look and act your best. That doesn’t usually come easy or cheap but the following basics can help you achieve your desired red carpet moment. Choose a small purse If you want to look as stylish as possible, an oversized bag is only going to spoil everything you’ve worked for. In fact, nothing ruins a great look like a big daytime purse. Instead, grab your cutest, most minimal clutch. Pick your outfit carefully It’s all about the outfit. Wear something that makes you feel like a million bucks without sacrificing comfort. You should also consider hiring a professional to help with your styling. Advisably, the outfit should be arranged a few weeks in advance so that there’s enough time for any needed adjustment for proper fitting. Rehearse a pose Check out some red carpet events. You can attend one live or watch it on television. Study how everyone poses for the cameras, and then rehearse afterwards— they all also rehearsed theirs. This should include a hairstylist, make-up artist and a before-the-show photographer. Choose stilettos Stilettos are the way to go; preferably about 5 to 6 inches high.
