Rutherford Catalogue 2022

Welcome to our new catalogue. This has been another year of ups and downs for
many. For some this has meant changes in work and personal lives, memorable events,
travelling again or reconnecting with family and friends. Our family have celebrated
milestone birthdays, our daughter’s marriage, and the birth of our first grandchild. At
the same time, we have mourned the passing of a close family member.
As a business we have celebrated our 70th anniversary year by expanding our
Camberwell store with a new gallery space. It will first be used to launch this
catalogue and we anticipate holding other, equally special, events in the future. We
look forward to seeing you in store.
It has been such a pleasure to meet up with people again at antique fairs, both in
Melbourne and interstate. We have more events and trips planned late this year and
into the new year and look forward to re-connecting with more of our interstate clients.
We have continued to draw on our 70 years of experience, and our contacts
throughout the world, to source fine jewellery and pearls. We are so pleased with
this year’s collection and our hardest decision has been which pieces to leave out!
If you visit our website you will see many other new items that had previously been
held aside for this catalogue.
Some of our catalogue highlights are the beautiful shaded pearls, original boxed
diamond earrings, wonderful French antique gold jewellery and a marvellous array of
brooches. We would like to draw your attention to the gold box on page 11, presented
as a gift by King Alfonso XIII of Spain in 1932. On pages 24 and 31 you will find diamonds
in rare colours of pink, green and orange, as well as unusual cuts that are truly special.
Then on page 33 you will see a unique pair of Australian pearl earrings, set with a
natural fancy yellow and a white diamond. The long South Sea strand on page 38, with
pearls from 14 to 19mm, is also magnificent.
We hope that you enjoy this catalogue as much as we have enjoyed putting it together
and that a piece or two might help you celebrate one of life’s memorable occasions.
