I must admit that I never get over<br />

excited at the launch of a<br />

new shirt.<br />

Not that I don’t like to see a nice, sharp<br />

new offering adorning the backs of our<br />

players on the first day of the season,<br />

far from it. I am also acutely aware of the<br />

financial aspect of a new offering for the<br />

club – it’s huge and I also love to see kids<br />

in the streets around the City playing in<br />

them. It’s noted that, certainly in the last<br />

20 years or so, you seem to see far more<br />

of the red and white variety than the other<br />

colours from across the city, but then<br />

I suppose that is the product of a couple<br />

of spells in the Premier League, quite a<br />

few Wembley visits and generally having<br />

the upper hand on our neighbours in<br />

terms of success (apart from a lifetime in<br />

League One of course).<br />

We also had a spell back in the<br />

Warnock era when we ran a schools<br />

project called ‘For Schools’ which looked<br />
