Hannibal Folklife Festival

October 15-16, 2022

“Folklife Folk”

by Patricia Garey

Saturday: 10am - 5pm

Sunday: 10am - 4pm

Nothing says “Fall” like the Hannibal Folklife Festival. On behalf of the

Hannibal Arts Council, the City of Hannibal and our many community

partners, we would like to THANK YOU

for attending and supporting this year’s festival.

We are glad to welcome you to the 46th Annual Hannibal Folklife

Festival, a community favorite. We invite you to have a good time…

and want to publicly thank you, our festival attendees, as well as our

voluteers, members, board of directors, staff and our community.

This event takes a village!

Proceeds from this Souvenir Booklet help support the HANNIBAL FOLKLIFE FESTIVAL and the:

Tom & Becky Program

The Tom & Becky Program, sponsored by the Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum, was created in

1956 by the Hannibal Chamber of Commerce. One boy and one girl are selected each year to serve as

the official Tom & Becky, with four other couples serving as alternates.

The 2022-2023 Tom and Becky Goodwill Ambassadors are: Dallas Nichelson, Connor Hudson, Landon

Nichols, Zachary Locke, Azariah Tucker as Tom. Kendall Kurz, Carlee McCoy, Mackenzie Livesay,

Grace Munger and Koryn Miller as Becky.

The primary function of the program is to allow these young people to serve as goodwill ambassadors

for Hannibal and to promote tourism. Those involved become familiar with Mark Twain, his life and his

literature. It is hoped that long after their year is over, these ambassadors will remember the important

part Mark Twain played in American literature and gain personal strengths that will last a lifetime.

2022 POSTER IMAGE

The 2022 poster features an image of an original watercolor painting

titled “Folklife Folk” by Hannibal artist Patricia Garey. The painting

was completed on-site at the 2021 Hannibal Folklife Festival and

features a festival favorite – performers Judy Schmidt & Friends.

IN MEMORIUM

Len Moss

(December 13, 1916 - May 13, 2022)

The Hannibal Folklife Festival family lost an “icon” this year with the

passing of long-time HAC volunteer Len Moss. He and his late wife

Norma (d. 1996) were a part of the very first Autumn Historic Folklife

Festival (as it was named then). Len only missed a couple festivals in

its 46-year history. For many years he was the Chair of the HAC

Coffee Booth and kept everyone on their toes. In his later years,

despite not having official responsibilities, would

always stop by to see how we were doing. We will miss Len’s

presence, his great costumes, his dedication to the festival and the

Hannibal Arts Council and the flask of whiskey he hid in his pocket.
