Figure 1-16. A ball-peen hammer (top) is purchased

according to weight (usually in ounces) of the head of

the hammer. At bottom is a soft-faced (plastic) hammer.

Always use a hammer that is softer than the material

being driven. Use a block of wood or similar

material between a steel hammer and steel or iron engine

parts to prevent damage to the engine parts.
