Contract: The Upgrading <strong>of</strong> Quartier Militaire Road (B6)-Phase 2 (From Belle Rive to Quartier<br />
Militaire)-CPB/63/2010<br />
1. Scope <strong>of</strong> contract:<br />
The works to be executed involve, amongst others, the following:<br />
• Topographic survey works.<br />
• Geotechnical, soil & material investigations.<br />
• Temporary traffic diversions and construction <strong>of</strong> temporary diversion roads.<br />
• Upgrading and partial realignment <strong>of</strong> existing road over a length <strong>of</strong> approximately 7.5 km<br />
with 7.4 metres wide carriageway and 1.5 m wide hard shoulders from Belle Rive<br />
Junction up to the entrance <strong>of</strong> Quartier Militaire in flexible pavement with a crushed<br />
stone sub-base and bitumen bound material base and wearing course.<br />
• Construction <strong>of</strong> bypasses <strong>of</strong> Valetta and Quartier Militaire villages <strong>of</strong> length 1.6 km and<br />
3.0 km respectively.<br />
• Construction <strong>of</strong> 5 major roundabouts at<br />
(i) Valetta (junction with La Dagotiere Road)<br />
(ii) Valetta (junction <strong>of</strong> Valetta Bypass and existing B6 Road after the village <strong>of</strong><br />
Valetta)<br />
(iii) Vuillemin/Quartier Militaire<br />
(iv) Quartier Militaire (junction with A7 Rose-Hill - Providence Road)<br />
(v) Near St Francoise Bridge (junction with B24 St Julien d'Hotrnan Road)<br />
• Construction <strong>of</strong> a reinforced underpass bridge <strong>of</strong> width 10 m and length 12 m along<br />
Quartier Militaire Bypass for the crossing <strong>of</strong> B51-L'Esperance Road.<br />
• Structural design and construction <strong>of</strong> a reinforced concrete bridge along Valetta Bypass<br />
with a span <strong>of</strong> about 16 m long.<br />
• Rerouting <strong>of</strong> existing services (MT,CEB, CWA)
• Construction <strong>of</strong> miscellaneous drainage structures, retaining walls and other ancillary<br />
works.<br />
• Miscellaneous road equipment and furniture such as carriageway markings, traffic signs,<br />
handrails, safety fences, street lighting, etc...<br />
