DOLLAR VS RAND
WHAT DOES THAT
MEAN?
This means that if you want to get
your hands on $1 you have to pay
R17.75 (plus whatever mark up and
fees the exchange charges).
For the majority of the past 5 years, the Rand
has been under R15/Dollar but recently you
will have felt the impact of the higher rate as
petrol prices (and thus transport prices and
the price of goods at shops) have gone up.
In the last 30 days the Rand has lost about
75c/Dollar. This means that even when global
petrol prices fall (which is great) we get
disappointed that the price of local fuel does
not drop as much as we would expect.
This is just one reason why it is useful to check
what the Rand Vs Dollar rate is.
