De’Vonta Sheldon Mathis was born on April 25, 1994
in Orlando, Florida. He was the first son of Tommie
Lee Mathis and Turkesa Code. De’Vonta attended
Orange County Public Schools where he received
a General Education Diploma in 2011. De’Vonta
worked as a Duct Technician and did scaffolding
in his adult years. He was a devoted father to his 5
loving children.
De’Vonta was known for being an introverted, kind,
and funny individual who enjoyed playing his Xbox
and Playstation. He also had a passion for making
music. He spent a lot of time with his close friends
and adored his family. He truly valued time with his
nieces and nephews.
De’Vonta transitioned on Saturday, September 10,
2022.
De’Vonta was preceded in death by: his father,
Tommie Lee Mathis.
Devonta leaves to cherish his memory: mother,
Turkesa (Harold) Code-Green; (4) siblings,
Xykeiriua Code, Keibriana (Kiwi) Alshabazz,
Albrian (Weezie) Alshabazz and bonus brother
Harold Green; (5) children, Tramari Mathis, Devaya
Mathis, Majesty Mathis, Jayce Butler, and De’Vonta
Mathis Jr.; and a host of nieces and nephews, other
relatives and friends.

To Those I Love
And Those Who Love Me
When I am gone, release me, let me go.
I have so many things to see and do,
You mustn’t tie yourself to me with too many tears,
But be thankful we had so many good years.
I gave you my love, and you can only guess
How much you’ve given me in happiness.
I thank you for the love that you have shown,
But now it is time I traveled on alone.
So grieve for me a while, if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It is only for a while that we must part,
So treasure the memories within your heart.
I won’t be far away for life goes on.
And if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can’t see or touch me, I will be near.
And if you listen with your heart, you’ll hear,
All my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you come this way alone,
I’ll greet you with a smile and a ‘Welcome Home’.

that you’re no longer there.
You left us far too early
before your time, it seems

we’ll take comfort in the thought
