Citizens
A US citizen is either an individual born in the United States or becomes a
naturalized citizen after 3 to 5 years as a resident in the nation. Citizens in
the US cannot be deported, apart from those cases involving citizenship
gained with the help of fraudulent methods.
Permanent and
Conditional Residents
These are two different types of immigration
status. Legal Permanent Residents (LPRs) are all
those immigrants who have a Green Card and
have the authority to stay in the US and work
permanently. One can be a permanent resident of
the United States by having a family member or
employer fund him as a Green Card applicant or if
the immigrant turns into a permanent resident
through refugee or asylee status.
Nonimmigrant Status
People living and working in the United States
on a temporary basis are regarded as
nonimmigrants. Some instances of people with
nonimmigrant status could be those given
temporary protected status, business visitors or
tourists on B1 or B2 visas, fiancées on K-1 visas,
and students on an F-1 visa.
Undocumented
This is the final one of the four categories of
immigration status in the US. Who exactly are
undocumented immigrants? They are people
who get inside the United States without
permission or enter through illegal methods,
and in all such cases, they would not be able
to stay in the country permanently or even
temporarily.
