Susan is a solicitor with considerable experience in advising pharmacists and pharmacy<br />
companies. She joined Gordons from Charles Russell Speechlys LLP in September 2019.<br />
In professional discipline matters Susan represents pharmacists in proceedings before the<br />
General Pharmaceutical Council, and advises on appeals from that body to the High Court.<br />
She represents healthcare professionals in conduct issues involving NHS England.<br />
Susan is regularly instructed in applications for inclusion in the Pharmaceutical List (market<br />
entry applications) and appeals to NHS Resolution, acting as solicitor advocate in the latter.<br />
She also has expertise in relation to appeals to the First Tier Tribunal.<br />
She advises on inquests, public and administrative law (including judicial review) and acts for<br />
pharmacists in relation to prosecutions, mainly high value fraud, brought by the CPS and other<br />
prosecuting agencies.<br />

Based in Guildford with Gordons Partnership Solicitors, Neil Grant heads up the firm's Health<br />
and Social Care Provider Team, which includes our specialist pharmacy law service to chemists<br />
across England and Wales. Neil and his team only act for registered providers and<br />
professionals, not regulators, commissioners or patients, ensuring we avoid conflicts of interest<br />
in the overlapping and complex world of healthcare regulation.<br />
Neil is experienced in dealing with all types of regulatory and contractual action taken against<br />
healthcare providers and professionals, including removal of registration, prosecutions and<br />
commissioning disputes. Neil is also a non-contentious lawyer who can advise on technical<br />
registration issues and undertake due diligence as part of commercial transactions.<br />

Richard qualified as a solicitor in 2002. Prior to joining Gordons Healthcare team in 2017,<br />
Richard was a partner at Hempsons Solicitors and Hill Dickinson LLP for a total of six years.<br />
Before becoming a solicitor Richard worked as a dentist having gained his Bachelor of Dental<br />
Surgery from Sheffield University. During his clinical career, Richard worked as a General<br />
Dental Practitioner and a clinical assistant in Orthodontics. Richard's clinical experience is of<br />
particular value in his work acting for doctors and dentists in regulatory proceedings before<br />
the General Medical and General Dental Councils, NHS England investigations and in clinical<br />
negligence claims.<br />
Richard also has a particular experience in acting for individual practitioners and corporate<br />
bodies in NHS Contract disputes and NHS Protect criminal investigations, particularly those<br />
involving alleged breaches of contract, inappropriate claiming and clawbacks.

Roy Donnelly MBBS (University of NSW), MBA (University of Technology Sydney), LLB (University of<br />
NSW), FRACMA, FFCFM.<br />
He is an overseas registered legal practitioner from New South Wales Australia and is working as<br />
a Consultant in our Healthcare Unit under the supervision of our partners in Healthcare.<br />
In addition to his Australian qualifications as a legal practitioner, Roy holds medical<br />
qualifications, an MBA, and is an Australian registered medical practitioner.<br />
Roy specialises in clinical negligence, professional conduct and regulatory matters involving<br />
health practitioners, as well as Coronial inquests.<br />

Lily graduated with an Upper Second Class honours degree in Law (LLB) from the University of<br />
Greenwich in 2015. She went on to complete the Legal Practice Course with a LLM in Professional<br />
Legal Practice at the University of Law in Guildford in 2016.<br />
After finishing her LPC LLM, Lily went to work as a paralegal at a local mental health firm representing<br />
patients sectioned under the Mental Health Act 1983. Following this, Lily joined our Guildford office in<br />
February 2017 and after completing her training she qualified in September 2019 as a Solicitor and<br />
works in the Healthcare department.<br />
Lily’s work includes assisting doctors, dentists and pharmacists in matters before their regulatory<br />
bodies; GMC, GDC and GPhC including conducting her own advocacy at Interim Order hearings. Lily<br />
has also broadened her practise to involve assisting healthcare professionals at Inquests.<br />

Brendan assists in all areas of Gordons’ healthcare practice. This includes Trust disciplinary matters,<br />
Regulatory proceedings (GMC / MPTS & GDC), Employment Tribunal proceedings, clinical<br />
negligence claims, Inquests and criminal defence litigation.<br />
He regularly attends Medical Practitioner Tribunal Service Hearings, General Dental Council<br />
Hearings, Trust Disciplinary Hearings, Inquests, the High Court, Criminal Trials and Police interviews<br />
to advise and represent clients (including doctors, dentists and health care professionals).<br />

Brendan has regular contact with clients who face an investigation by their Regulator, Employer,<br />

Matthew graduated from the University of Kent, Canterbury with a BA (Hons) degree in Politics<br />
and Law in 2015. In 2018 he completed the LPC with MSc in Law, Business and Management at<br />
the University of Law, Guildford.<br />
He began his legal career working in mental health law where he primarily assisted those<br />
detained under various sections of the Mental Health Act.<br />
Matthew qualified as a Solicitor into the Healthcare Regulation department in Gordons Guildford<br />
office in March, 2022. His work includes assisting doctors, dentists and pharmacists with regard<br />
to their regulation by the GMC, GDC and GPhC and in the event that they are involved in an<br />
Inquest. He also deals with the defence of clinical negligence and other claims brought against<br />
healthcare professionals and practices. Matthew has recently assisted pharmacy clients with<br />
market entry applications, an unusual appeal to the Magistrates Court against the imposition of<br />
an Improvement Notice and an appeal regarding the GPhC Registration Assessment.

James studied law at Oxford University before spending two years at one of the big four Japanese securities houses. He<br />
trained at Linklaters and subsequently worked for them in London, New York and Tokyo. In 1994, he left Linklaters to<br />
become one of the founding partners of Gordons. As well as being a solicitor since 1988, he was admitted as an<br />
attorney and counsellor at law at the Bar of the State of New York in 1990.<br />
James is a highly rated corporate and banking lawyer based in our London office. His expertise is in banking, securities,<br />
venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and commercial tie-ups generally. He is much sought after by<br />
clients for the depth of his expertise, knowledge and experience, along with his ability to match the service provided by<br />
the ‘bigger guns’ of the corporate world.<br />

Derek worked in the finance and music industries before pursuing a career in law. In 1997 Derek became the firm’s first<br />
trainee, qualifying in 1999. He became a partner of the firm in 2007. Derek is a commercial lawyer based in our London<br />
office with particular expertise in commercial contracts (including supply, procurement and distribution agreements)<br />
and commercial dispute resolution. He is renowned for his efficiency and is popular with clients for his approachable<br />
and pragmatic style.<br />

Jude completed her first degree in Drama and Comparative Literature at the University of Kent. She spent a number of<br />
years working in the financial sector before converting to law. She joined Gordons as a trainee in 1998, qualified in<br />
2000 and became a partner in 2007. She is based in our London office.<br />
Jude specialises in company, commercial and employment law. Her particular commercial expertise is in dealing with<br />
venture capital, private equity investment and acquisitions and disposals. She also practices in all aspects of<br />
contentious and non-contentious employment law. She provides day to day support for a number of large employers<br />
and her measured, patient advice is appreciated by employers and employees alike.<br />

Adrian has specialised in commercial property work since qualifying in 1993, working for both landlords and tenants in<br />
relation to all aspects of commercial leases, as well as buyers and sellers of businesses and banks and borrowers in<br />
secured lending transactions.<br />
Working in conjunctions with our colleagues in the Health and Social Care department, Gordons Partnership provides a<br />
"one stop shop" for the purchase or sale of pharmacies that can handle all aspects of pharmacy transactions -<br />

Kathryn studied Law with European Law at Warwick University, which included a year abroad studying law in France<br />
and Germany. She subsequently qualified as a solicitor in 2005 with Howard Kennedy in the West End of London, going<br />
on to work for firms in Reading and Basingstoke. Kathryn joined the Property Department of Gordons as a Senior<br />
Associate in the autumn of 2019 in our Guildford office.<br />
She specialises in commercial landlord and tenant law and the sale and acquisition of commercial properties, both as<br />
portfolios and as individual transactions. Kathryn is experienced in dealing with commercial property transactions for<br />
pharmacies, doctors’ and dentists’ surgeries, care homes and children’s day nurseries.<br />
