INFRASTRUCTURE
The processes and technologies that have
supported TSTC’s business operations for over
three decades were developed in a bygone
era of technology. To remain relevant in the
disruptive, exponentially-changing era of today,
the College had to re-imagine and re-engineer
virtually all of its business processes. Following
the Board’s approval, TSTC began a multi-year,
multi-phase project to transform the digital
experience of TSTC’s constituents. The first
phase included the overhaul of TSTC’s financial
and human capital process infrastructure
(Platform). The second phase includes student
lifecycle process infrastructure (Student).
The two phases require team members across
the enterprise to transform processes, crossfunctional
handoffs, and user interfaces
and experiences. These transformations are
necessary to enable the data and analytics
needed to accelerate into TSTC’s future.
On April 1, 2022, after over two years of
planning, architecture, configuration, and
testing, TSTC became the first college or
university in Texas (despite attempts by others)
to implement Platform with the state-of-the-art
technology vendor, Workday. Weeks later, the
College initiated the Student phase.
Enterprise focus will continue surrounding
sustainability and version management of
Platform in its post-implementation state. For
Student, the cross-functional implementation
team will plan and implement during fiscal
year 2023 and 2024 and deploy applications
intermittently during the course of the project.
