The University of Strasbourg welcomes<br />
56,000 students, of which 20% are international<br />
students covering 150 nationalities.<br />
Moreover, 12% of its lecturers and researchers<br />
are coming from abroad. With<br />
its 35 components, 72 laboratories and<br />
research units, it is distinguished by the<br />
multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary<br />
nature of its training offer. It conducts a<br />
research of excellence provided by nearly<br />
2,800 lecturer-researchers, including four<br />
active Nobel Prize winners.<br />
Located at the heart of one of European<br />
capitals as home of (the first) key European<br />
institutions, blending French and German<br />
cultural influences, its history naturally<br />
ties it to the Upper Rhine region that<br />
concentrates a core academic potential in<br />
Europe.<br />
The UNISTRA has a long-standing experience in coordinating networks. In addition to the EUCOR network –<br />
The European campus, the UNISTRA is also very involved in other major European partnerships such as the<br />
Franco-German University, the Utrecht Network, and other Erasmus networks holding more than 800 agreements.<br />
The university also benefits from over 1,500 agreements and conventions with more than 750 universities<br />
in 75 countries. The UNISTRA is involved in more than 60 European projects and coordinates 38 of them.<br />
Unistra is the initiator and co-founder of the French Standing Conference of Gender Officers for Equality and<br />
Diversity in Higher Education and Research (CPED), chairing it from its creation in 2011 to 2016. This national<br />
network is a place of exchange of practices, ideas and information for universities gender political actions.<br />
Unistra is an actively member of the LERU’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (<strong>EDI</strong>) policy group and of the EPI-<br />
CUR’s <strong>EDI</strong> working group , which recently published the policy paper “Women, universities and research: excellence<br />
without gender biais”.<br />
Unistra participates in gender expert workshops, such as the H2020 EFFORTI (Evaluation Framework for Promoting<br />
Gender Equality in R&I) project, or the European study on national gender policy in education systems<br />
conducted by EIGE (European Institut for Gender Equality) and participated in genderSTE COST workshops.<br />
