INTRODUCTION

ABOUT US

The RCT Netball League was established to promote

healthy competition and to give Rhondda’s girls and

women what Rhondda’s boys and men have had for

so long now through rugby and football. The concept

was first conceived back in 2017/18, but - thanks in

large part to the awesome support of Riskmonitor

through Dave Dean & Darren James (pictured below)

across 2021/22 & 2022/23 - things really took off last

season as Covid concerns began to subside!

3 Welcome to 2022/23

4 Seniors & Youth

2021/22 saw over 650 girls and women take part

across five age groups - from Under 9’s to Seniors

& Youth - and seven divisions! And, this year, with

an additional division being added to cater for an

incredible 175+ Senior & Youth players across 16+

teams, things are set to reach a whole new level.

With the ability to start 2022/23 at the end of September

as opposed to a few weeks before Christmas like

last year (because of Covid), the RCT Netball League

is delighted that all participants will experience a full

and hopefully, uninterrupted season!

WELCOME TO 2022/23

Dear Player/Parent/Guardian,

There’s no doubt the RCT Netball League took a big step forward during 2021/22! Yes, with over

600 players involved between Under 9’s - Seniors, we were thrilled with the participation and

competition on the back of the pandemic. However, with the loss of Rhondda Sports Centre as

a venue for fixtures due to it being used as a Covid Vaccination Centre, it was an extremely challenging

season from a facilities point of view, and there’s no doubting the need for Rhondda to

have a multi-court netball facility that can be used throughout the year, rain or shine.

Until then though, with Rhondda Sports Centre no longer having the “block availability” required

to be a venue for fixtures during 2022/23, we’re pleased to say that we’re now able to

hire Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda as well as Ysgol Nantgwyn, which was our primary venue for

fixtures last season. This should allow us to stage games in a much more manageable way for

coaches, players and parents to bring better scheduling to every age category and division.

We’ll also have the benefit of all divisions having a “full season” for 2022/23, something that

wasn’t possible last year when the first fixtures didn’t take place until a few weeks before Christmas

due to Covid/Omicron concerns!

The first fixtures in our Senior & Youth Divisions will be on Monday 26th September, and the first

fixtures in our Under 15’s Division will take place the following week, w/c 3rd October. From there,

it’ll be Under 13’s > Under 11’s > Under 9’s according to our facility bookings. And, as ever, the

opportunity is there for players to represent one of the participating clubs!

In order to represent their club in the RCT Netball League for 2022/23, players need to:

Pay a £22 (U9’s & U11’s), £25 (U13’s & U15’s) or £30 (Seniors & Youth, this is included in Rhondda

Netball’s Senior & Youth player package) RCT Netball League Fee OR sell 44/50/60 Halloween

Netball Universe Lotto tickets in support of Rhondda Netball if that’s easier for players/parents.

See details below on how to pay league fees by card or bank transfer.

Have the latest Club Dress or the 2019/20 previous edition. Dresses are available to order online

@ www.netballuniverse.com (As with the RCT Netball League Fee, if players/parents would

find it easier to sell 60 Halloween Netball Universe Lotto tickets to get a new Club Dress rather

than paying directly, this is no problem).

Please note: Like Wednesday training days, £3 per participant will be required at each games day.

We are aware that there are players who will only want to train at their clubs and not compete

in the RCT Netball League and this is completely fine for U9’s, U11’s, U13’s & U15’s. However,

this option is not really practical for Seniors & Youth.

Head Coaches are requesting that 2022/23 RCT Netball League fees (and dress orders if required)

are paid by Wednesday 28th September (Monday 26th September if playing in one of our

Senior & Youth Divisions), so that everything can be organised from our end for league fixtures

to start on time. Payments made after this date can potentially (if max capacity isn’t reached)

still be accepted, but may result in your players not being assigned to a team straight away.

and club (if space allows) as the reference e.g.

SENIORS & YOUTH

The 2021/22 season in our Senior & Youth Division saw 12

teams compete for the league title. And, despite Treorchy

Youth giving them quite the scare, Ferndale Senior Navys

secured their second league title in a row. As the curtain

closed on the season, Treorchy Senior Blacks took home

the Riskmonitor Cup, whilst Treorchy Senior Whites won

the Riskmonitor Plate.

However, with over 180 sign-ups for this coming season,

2022/23 will see at least 16 Senior & Youth teams compete

across two divisions. So, hopefully, the fun, social experience,

and sporting drama should be at an all-time high!

UNDER 15'S

The shortened format (due to Covid) for 2021/22 season

saw quite the battle for the top spot in both Divisions. But

after overcoming Tonypandy Reds in a tense encounter,

Ferndale Whites took the Division 1 title and proudly lifted

the trophy at Rhondda Netball’s End of Year Presentation

Evening, pictured below right! Tonypandy Whites also had

a perfect season finishing five points clear of Porth Reds,

whilst the Riskmonitor Cup Treorchy Blacks take the win

over Ferndale Whites in an intense final, and Tonypandy

Whites “did the double” and won the Riskmonitor Plate.

With a full 2022/23 schedule, the competition will go up a

level as many of last year’s Under 13’s join the fray!

UNDER 13'S

The Under 13’s Divisions were both action-packed, with

some amazing players taking to the court across an incredible

18 teams! Ferndale Whites managed to secure

the Division 1 title, with Treorchy Reds crowned Division 2

champions. As the season drew to a close, both Ferndale

Whites & Treorchy Reds managed to carry their winning

streaks over to take home both the Riskmonitor Cup &

Riskmonitor Plate respectively.

We know this upcoming season is going to be even more

fierce in both Under 13’s Divisions, and everyone is looking

forward to what should be an exciting 2022/23 season!

UNDER 11'S

The 2021/22 season saw Tonypandy Reds secure the Division

1 title (some of the winning team are pictured below

right) whilst Treorchy Reds headlined Division 2! It must

be said, the Under 11’s showed incredible growth as the

season went on, and one can only imagine where the girls

would be right now had the pandemic not intervened.

Yes, there’s no doubt Rhondda has some promising talent

coming through the ranks, and we’re excited to see how

the players develop during RCT Netball League games

throughout the 2022/23 season.

Our Under 9’s Division

is an amazing opportunity

for Year 3 & 4

girls to have their first

experience of healthy

netball competition all

whilst creating positive relationships, having fun and

building friendships. The Ferndale Falcons, Porth Pythons,

Pandy Panthers and the Uppa Treo posse had a

fantastic 2021/22 season, and it was a particularly impressive

season from the Treorchy Blacks who went undefeated

to take the title.

We’re super excited to see more fresh faces taking part

in our Under 9’s Division for 2022/23 and seeing even

more supportive parents and family cheering from the
