Third, it is said that the ideology and
philosophy that leads an organization or
country changes the world.
Taekwondo can change people’s
thinking. This has the unparalleled power
to change the world. It can change a life in
which a negative person becomes a positive
person. It can help a person without
self-confidence to become a confident
person. A life that is aimless and without a
goal, to have clarity, self-confidence, and
an indomitable will and spirit that never
gives up. It can usher in a new era and a
new future that can evoke the power of
positivity. Our taekwondo is for all mankind,
not the cultural heritage of Korea, as well
as the essential spirit that stays close to
us like air, water, salt, and nourishment
for world peace and coexistence of
people all around the world.
MAWNews: How did the spirit
of Taekwondo help you succeed in
your business?
SMK: In general, when people
think of Taekwondo, the thoughts
that come to mind are a strong body,
a strong mind, and a healthy mind. I
think that Taekwondo has a deeper
life than just a strong body and mind
and is very closely related to our
lives. When interpreting Taekwondo
in English, it is called “The way
of Life.” In Christianity, the way
of salvation is to ultimately
go to
heaven
through the love of Jesus Christ. In Buddhism,
the path to liberation or nirvana by
practicing the mercy of the Buddha will be
the final path of the path. Since we only live
once, it is everyone’s hope and dream to
live a life of success rather than failure, a life
of victory rather than defeat, and a life of
happiness rather than unhappiness.
However, to achieve this requires not
only ceaseless efforts, but also the basic
requirements to achieve happiness begins
from satisfying wants and needs.
If the want is the goal of what I want to
do, then the action plan for this is the need.
For example, if the goal is a gold medal in
the Olympic Games, then the action plan to
achieve it must be well crafted. When we
compete in a competition, the competition
is not over just because
we
allow 1
point because the match is not over until
the bell rings. Even though, sometimes it
looks like there is no end to such a long
tunnel, with a clear personal goal, practice,
and execution, there will be an end. It is
important to form an internal and external
corporate culture for constant devotion,
honest effort, trust and value. Even in the
ever-changing world of business, I am always
grateful that the spirit brought by the
Taekwondo spirit has been with Taekwondo
in corporate management as well.
I would like to say some things to the instructors
who have special characteristics
from Taekwondo in the country and who
run a dojang in the United States. Everyone
dreams of success and everyone has hope
for a beautiful future. With changes in the
times, there are differences in thinking and
values, but what should not be changed is
that the status of the master and instructor
in the dojang business and the symbol
and value of Taekwondo itself should not
be damaged in any case. That will be the
master’s credibility and its symbolism in the
dojang.
I hear these days that in relation to
joining the T-Con at the Kukkiwon in Korea,
there is an inconvenience and unfairness
for the masters and instructors who apply
for a dan certification to the Kukkiwon and
situations that undermine the authority,
credibility and status of the instructors
are taking place. If we look at this, the
problem occurred three years ago from
the development stage of T-con. From the
stage of preparation, sufficient explanation
and understanding of the purpose of the T-
Con system, the practical benefits and benefits
obtained by implementing it, and the
convenience that can be given to
the front-line American dojang.
By doing this, and how the
expected benefits will
appear, should have
been followed.
However, the
T-con system
was newly
implemented
without sufficient
explanation
and
persuasion,
so I
