Berchtesgaden belongs to the
administrative district of Upper
Bavaria in the federal district of
Bavaria.
It is located in the region of the
Alps. Berchtesgaden forms with the
neighboring places Bischofswiesen,
Schönau am Königssee,
Marktschellenberg, and Ramsau
the region Berchtesgadener Land
and is surrounded by the Austrian
federal district Salzburg in the
